A New Way of Life ...

Hello friends,

I am proud to write this blog. When I started blogging (which is not long time back), I never thought that I would be able to use this wonderful tool of communication for this purpose.

The title of this blog is "NIRDHAAR" which means strong will and determination. "NIRDHAAR" is a group conceived and formed by my friend Sandeep and few of us. "NIRDHAAR" is a non-profit social organization, which will work primarily towards bringing positive change in lives and future of children in tribal areas near Mumbai and Thane, who are not able to enjoy "childhood" as we have all enjoyed, due to economic, social or other reasons. Primary focus of "NIRDHAAR" is for better health and education for these children.

Meaning of "childhood" for most of us are happy memories, when we went to school, studied and played along with our buddies. Where we have put on path of bright future by our teachers, where we enjoyed little proud moments of winning essay competition or cricket match or getting highest marks in class. Whenever we were sick, our parents rushed us to good doctors to get us well soon.

Unfortunately millions of children in India, DO NOT enjoy this childhood. They do not enjoy their birthright of good healthcare facilities and best of the education. Please take a look at following information from CRY website:
"10000 children die every day in India. More than in any tsunami, flood, earthquake, famine or war. Half of India's children are deprived of their fundamental right to education every day. Two million Indian babies die each year before they celebrate their first birthday. Millions of India's children go to bed each night every day hungry, hopeless and angry."
Definitely not a nice picture of world's emerging superpower and fastest growing economy. But it is a naked truth, we can not hide from.

The problem is huge and resources are very less. Already thousands of Social Organizations and NGOs along with the government are trying to tackle this problem but success rate is poor due to sheer size and volume of the issue. We need to make our own little efforts towards this cause.

Many of you may wonder who we are? why are we doing this? and can we be trusted? Your questions are very much valid. Let me answer these questions. We are all middle-class working professionals (mostly engineers) working in different organizations. We are doing this because we feel that its now time to stand up and do our bit for this cause. We have chosen children because they are future. If given right direction they will able to conquer the perils of their conditions and will truly become assets for the community and our nation. If we are able to educate and take care of children of just one village then that village will change forever when these children become adults. We need to apply this logic to as many localities as effectively possible. I wish to mention one thing here very clearly that, we are not doing any favor to these children by helping them to claim back their rightful joys of childhood, but by doing so we are actually doing our duty because we are lucky enough not to experience perils of lives of these children, we are lucky enough to enjoy our own childhood and its payback time now. And now the third question: Can we be trusted?

Most of you will be skeptical of us, because we have many examples of organizations who have taken disadvantages of confidence of donors and generated huge donations and funds only to make their members richer. I assure you that every single donor will have right to inspect all the accounts and activities of "NIRDHAAR". I will also update you about our activities through this blog regularly.

I would like to mention that we are not experts in this field nor do we have any prior experience of such work. We will come across many hurdles, failures and temptations to go off the track. But I assure you on behalf of me and our entire team of "NIRDHAAR" that, our will and determination is solid; we are learning and will improve through our experiences and we are commited to our cause. We need your blessings and active support to be able to bring positive difference to the lives of these most deserving children. You are welcome to join us and help us in any form, monetary and/or your valuable services and little time. We are open to your suggestions/ questions to improve ourselves.
